ICT HUBS SETUP IN ALL CONSITUENCIES IN KENYA
The government of Kenya in collaboration with the Constituency CDF Committee are going to roll out ICT Hubs in every Constituency in Kenya. From the Documents I saw, every Constituency will have 4 centers.
The Hubs will be used as Innovation Centers in ICT and get the Youth to engage in Various activities online like the Online jobs.
This will also help the people in the areas on accessing the various Online services like the iTAX, eCitizen among others.
The above topology depicts the possible setup that will be put in every center country wide.
The Company to implement this project is Telkom Kenya. The CDF Committee will have to set aside Ksh 4,677,027.20 for the 4 sites. The monthly bandwidth usage will be paid by the government.
This must be one of those dreams I have been dreaming all along for my tiny Village of Makutano in Kopsiro-Mt Elgon in Bungoma County.
The above table displays the summary of the charges. The Digital Access Kit is a pack of 40 Tablets for every Center.
The Consumables for every Site are as shown below:
To explain the first diagram of the Topology,
The Main internet will be delivered from a Satellite. A VSAT dish will be installed at every Center in order to communicate with the Satellite. From the VSAT, it connects directly to a Mikrotik Router RB2011-UiAS-RM. Then, we have 2 Omni Directional Antennae and 2 Unifi AP for wifi.
The Omni Antenna will be used to give WiFi to all directions within the Center.
With all these in place, my Makutano Village aka CBD will indeed be a real CBD.
All the Tablets at the Center will access the internet by means of WiFi.
My only problem is in the training part. From the look of the above list of Items, there are no Laptops nor Desktops and even no printers.
The CDF Committee might be forced to set aside some more money to facilitate the same for the smooth running of the Centers.
